Knightstar yawned as the sunlight shined in his eyes, he squinted them as he opened his deep green eyes. His grey fur fluffed up a bit, by the cool breeze blowing into his den.

Sunspots looked around at the warriors in the den. They all appeared to be asleep. She stood up, stretching her stiff legs. Before she could stop it, a loud yawn escaped her lips. Sunspots glanced around the warriors den quickly, but she hadn't woken anyone up. She stepped out of the den and into the sunlight.

Ashpaw woke suddenly as her brother's paw jabbed her in the side. "Hey!" She hissed, then realised he was still asleep. Ashpaw laid back down, wondering what her mentor had in store for her today. She had only been an apprentice for a few days, but already felt as is she had learner so much.

Wingpaw slept, but not peacefully. He was tormented by dreams, dreams of his mother getting attacked by the fox, dreams of her mangled body after. Nightmares would be a better word. Wingpaw whimpered in his sleep, swiping out at intangible memories.

Knightstar arched his back in stretch before going back down, and slowly started padding out of his den glancing around the camp, heading towards the freshkill pile.

Sunspots looked up as she heard a rustle by the leader's den. She quickly averted her eyes shyly. Sunspots walked towards the the fresh kill pile, head down.

Knightstar turned his head as he picked up a vole and noticed sunspots, "Hello" he greeted her as she came towards the Fresh Kill Pile.

Nightclaw was just returning from night patrol when he noticed the two cats at the food pile. He happily trotted to the food pile, and picked up a nice large and plump vole, and laid down. He looked up at the two cats and said, "Good morning!" with a smile.

"Morning." Sunspots said, looking at Knightstar then Nightwing. She looked back at Knightstar. "So who is going on patrols today?" She asked, a feeble attempt to make conversation.

Ashpaw jabbed a sheathed claw at her brother. "Wingpaw! Wake up!" She said impatiently. She was hoping that Knightstar would start some battle training with her, or maybe even go on a dawn patrol.

Wingpaw sprang up onto his feet, faster than he would normally think possible. He sank back down, images of his nightmares still fresh in his brain. His sensitive ears caught a bit of the conversation between the leader and warriors, but Wingpaw was too tired to care.

Knightstar thought for a breif moment then replied "I was thinking Nightclaw,wingpaw,Me, You, and Ashpaw"

Sunspots nodded, thinking that sounded good. She looked towards the apprentice den as she heard rustling in there. "Here they come now." Sunspots said with a purr. She loved kits and apprentices. They could always manage to make her laugh.

Ashpaw gave up waiting for her brother and left the den, giving a few embarrassed licks as she noticed one of the warriors watching her. She looked back in the den and hisseda again. "Come on!"

Wingpaw quickly got up as he noticed Ashpaw had left. He stumbled over his feet as he exited the den, embarrassing his sister further.

Knightstar smiled at his apprentice came out of the den and went over to greet him "Hello Ashpaw"

Ashpaw straightened up tall. "Hi Knightstar. What are we doing today?" She asked, trying to seem older. Ashpaw loved to impress and hated being treated as someone's inferior, regardless of their rank. She liked that Knightstar sometimes treated her opinion with respect.

Wingpaw stood slightly behind Ashpaw. He glanced over at his mentor, Nightclaw. Wingpaw hoped that whatever he did today he was with Ashpaw. He always felt awkward and out of place without his sister to deal with the attention. While Ashpaw thrived on attention and praise, he preferred to stay out of the limelight.

Sunspots looked at Knightstar, a far off look in her eyes. Something about him just seemed right. She hated not knowing why she was interested in him. Sunspots liked to know everything and liked when problems could be solved with brainpower. Here, she was out of her comfort zone. Who needs all these complicated emotions?

Knightstar smiled softly at his apprentice "Today we are going on a patrol"

Ashpaw grinned. "Yay! A border patrol or a hunting patrol?" she said, quickly regaining her composure.

Wingpaw looked up. He looked over at Nightclaw. "Are we going on a patrol today?" he asked quietly, slightly frustrated with Ashpaw's loud and ostentatious response to her mentor.

Sunspots watched the apprentice and smiled. She wondered what it would be like to have kits. She then startled herself by imagining her and Knightstar having kits together. Sunspots shook the image out of her head, thinking she was just being silly. Knightstar had better things to do.

" A Hunting patrol" he responded hoping that ashpaw would like the idea

Ashpaw smiled, even though she was secretly hoping for a border patrol. She didn't want to seem Whitney. "Cool!" Ashpaw said, with convincing enthusiasm.

Knightstar smiled happily that ashpaw likes the idea "Want to wait at the camp entrance for the others?" he asked

Ashpaw smiled. "Okay!" she said, and started over towards the entrance. She stopped and turned around. "Is Wingpaw coming too?" Ashpaw asked, looked towards her brother.

Knightstar nodded "Yes, Wingpaw and Nightclaw are comming as well" he replied with a cool and calm tone in his voice.

Rainbowpaw bounced after Coldwhisker. "So... What are we doing today?" She asked.

Rainbowpaw pouted. In her enthusiasm she wasn't very good at remembering things. She squinted as she searched her brain for things she knew. "Cobwebs stop bleeding. Budrock roots speed healing, no thats not right. The leaves speed healing the roots draw out infection. Uh... Oh! Thyme calms cats and borage increases milk for queens." Rainbowpaw nodded proud of what she knew.

"Okay!" Ashpaw said, and ran off towards the camp entrance. She looked hungrily at the fresh kill pile but decided she would eat after she provided for the clan.

Wingpaw raced after Ashpaw, relieved they would be going together. He eyed a few mishappen branches by the entrance and carefully wove them back into the wall.

Sunspots was happy to be going on a hunting patrol. She wasn't the best fighter, but she could hunt very well, especially in the trees. Sunspots loved the feel of sinking her teeth into a piece of prey, knowing that by doing so she was supporting her clan.

Rainbowpaw nodded as she processed the information, "Alfalfa, Tooth decay. Ashes, adder bites." She repeated.
